Our Child-care Philosophy

Philosophies are usually underpinned by what you believe to be true about working with young children and their families. Beliefs lead to the development of values. Also, philosophy is built on principles of practice that are underpinned by theory and literature. Our philosophy is inspired by “Reggio Emilia approach”, “The Alberta curriculum framework for early learning and child care” and “Natural and forest school approach” which view the child as a strong, resourceful, and capable individual, which believe in free-play and believe in the love for nature.

We, here at Alberta Children Place (ACP) strongly believe that every child is unique, capable, strong and resourceful. Children are mighty learners and citizens. They have a hundred languages to express, imagine, play or learn as described by Loris Malaguzzi.

We believe that children learn best when they are provided with the opportunity to play and explore freely within the safe environment keeping in mind multiple intelligence ways of children interacting with their environment, which gives emphasis to intrapersonal, interpersonal, naturalistic intelligent as described by Dietze and Kashin. Also, Children thrive when they are nurtured in close, consistent relationships, and their families benefit from these close caring relationships as well as emphasized by "An early learning and child care curriculum framework for Alberta".

When a person is mentally healthy, they are able to handle life's challenges, recognise their skills, learn and function well in the workplace, and give back to their community.

Maintaining a healthy quality of life allows us to get the most out of each day's activities without experiencing undue physical strain or exhaustion. This is what we mean when we say that we are physically well.
